BRIEF OF THE INCIDENT:
On 27.06.2026 information regarding a snatching incident was reported at PS IP Estate. The complainant, resident of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, reported that while travelling on a Rapido motorcycle near IP Flyover, ITO, towards Kashmiri Gate, two unidentified persons riding a black motorcycle snatched his OnePlus Nord-4 mobile phone and fled.

ORGANIZED STREET CRIME CRACKDOWN: PS IP ESTATE BUSTED AN ORGANIZED SNATCHING MODULE; TWO ACCUSED ARRESTED, SECTION 112 BNS INVOKED

* STOLEN MOTORCYCLE USED IN THE COMMISSION OF OFFENCES SEIZED.

* OVER 750 CCTV FOOTAGES ANALYSED ALONG WITH TECHNICAL SURVEILLANCE, HUMAN INTELLIGENCE AND LOCAL INFORMATION TO CRACK THE CASE.
* ACCUSED ASIF FOUND TO BE A HABITUAL OFFENDER WITH INVOLVEMENT IN 23 CRIMINAL CASES.
BRIEF OF THE INCIDENT:
On 27.06.2026 information regarding a snatching incident was reported at PS IP Estate. The complainant, resident of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, reported that while travelling on a Rapido motorcycle near IP Flyover, ITO, towards Kashmiri Gate, two unidentified persons riding a black motorcycle snatched his OnePlus Nord-4 mobile phone and fled.
Accordingly, FIR No. 252/2026, U/s 304(2)/3(5) BNS was registered at PS IP Estate and investigation was initiated.
During investigation, it emerged that four mobile snatching incidents had occurred within about one hour in and around the ITO–IP Estate area, creating fear among commuters.
TEAM AND OPERATION:
Considering the gravity of the incidents and the sense of insecurity created by the repeated mobile snatching offences, a dedicated team comprising SI Yogesh Poonia, HC Avinash, HC Rajender, HC Rohtash and Ct. Surender was constituted under the close supervision of Insp. Naresh Kumar, SHO/PS IP Estate, and the overall supervision of Sh. Rajeev Bhardwaj, ACP/Kamla Market Sub-Division, to launch a focused, intelligence-led investigation to identify, trace and apprehend the offenders.
During the course of investigation, the team carried out an extensive examination of more than 750 CCTV footages collected from flyovers, intersections, entry and exit routes and other vulnerable locations. Simultaneously, secret informers were activated and local intelligence was developed to gather actionable inputs regarding the activities and movement of the offenders. Subsequently, the coordinated efforts of the team enabled the police to establish the identity of one of the accused, namely Asif.
Following the identification of the accused, the police team developed further intelligence regarding his whereabouts. Accordingly, on 01.07.2026, the team proceeded to Village Mahdood, District Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, where, after sustained efforts, accused Asif was successfully arrested.
During sustained interrogation, accused Asif confessed to his involvement in the present case and disclosed that he had committed the offence along with co-accused Shahrukh. At his instance, the stolen motorcycle bearing Registration No. DL6SBN5699, used in the commission of the offence, was recovered from Zakir Nagar, Delhi. Verification revealed that the recovered motorcycle had been stolen in MVT No. 014717/2026 registered at PS Wazirabad, Delhi.
Further interrogation revealed that co-accused Tarik @ Danish was actively assisting in the commission of the offences by arranging stolen motorcycles, providing logistical support, facilitating the disposal of stolen mobile phones and helping the offenders evade law enforcement.
Acting promptly on the disclosures made during interrogation and after due verification, the police team conducted a follow-up operation and successfully apprehended co-accused Tarik @ Danish from Shastri Park, Delhi in 02.07.2026. Investigation established that he played a key role in facilitating the activities of the organized mobile snatching module.
