under the leadership of SI Vikrant Choudhary, I/C ASB Cell, Shahdara, was constituted under the close supervision of Sh. Mohinder Singh, ACP/Operations, Shahdara and the overall supervision of the DCP, Shahdara.
INCIDENT & INVESTIGATION:-
In compliance with the directions of senior officers and as part of the sustained drive against illegal arms, the staff of the ASB Cell/Shahdara, has been continuously gathering intelligence, conducting surveillance and developing actionable inputs regarding criminals involved in carrying and supplying illegal firearms in Delhi and adjoining areas.
On 01.07.2026, the team received a specific secret input that a person carrying an illegal firearm would be present near MCD Park, Old Seemapuri, Delhi. Acting promptly on the information, the team strategically laid a trap at the indicated location.
After sustained surveillance, the suspect was noticed approaching the spot and was intercepted by the police team. During his search, one semi-automatic pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from his possession. The accused was identified as Dev @ Devu, aged 20 years.
Accordingly, FIR No. 432/2026 dated 01.07.2026 under Section 25 Arms Act was registered at Police Station Seemapuri, and the accused was arrested as per law.
INTERROGATION:-
During sustained interrogation, the accused disclosed that he had procured the illegal pistol to take revenge against a rival due to previous enmity and also to keep it for his personal protection.
Further investigation is in progress to ascertain the source of procurement of the weapon, identify the supplier, verify possible interstate links and examine the accused's involvement in any other criminal activities.

1. Dev @ Devu R/o Sharadpuri, New Seemapuri, Delhi. Age: 20 Years.

CONCLUSION:-
The successful operation by the ASB Cell/Shahdara, highlights the effectiveness of intelligence-based policing and proactive preventive measures undertaken by Delhi Police. The timely arrest of the accused and recovery of the illegal firearm prevented its possible misuse in the commission of a serious offence. Continuous efforts are being made to dismantle illegal arms networks operating in Delhi and adjoining areas, while further investigation is underway to identify the source of the weapon, trace the supplier, and uncover any associates connected with the accused.
