INFORMATION, TEAM AND OPERATION:
To curb the rising incidents of two-wheeler theft in South-West District, the AATS team was tasked with visiting theft spots, analysing CCTV footage and developing intelligence regarding active auto-lifters. Accordingly, a dedicated team comprising ASI Vinod Kumar, ASI Dharmendra, HC Mohit, HC Narender, HC Devender, HC Ravinder, HC Pradeep, HC Prashant, HC Manoj Moral and Ct. Praveen was constituted under the leadership of Insp. Ram Kumar, I/C AATS/SWD and under the close supervision of Ms. Sanghamitra, ACP/Operations, South-West District.
The team analysed footage from more than 300 CCTV cameras installed near the places of occurrence and gathered local intelligence. During the exercise, they identified one active auto-lifter, Dildar Singh @ Meena. On 08.07.2026, acting on specific secret information, the team laid a trap and apprehended Dildar Singh @ Meena while he was in possession of a motorcycle. Verification revealed that the motorcycle was stolen in E-FIR No. 032065/25, u/s 305(B) BNS, PS Palam Village.
During sustained interrogation, the accused disclosed the locations where he had concealed other stolen vehicles. At his instance, two stolen scooties and one stolen motorcycle were recovered. Subsequently, on the disclosure of Dildar Singh @ Meena, the receiver of stolen vehicles, Vishnu R/o Kishangarh, Delhi, aged 26 years was also arrested. At his instance, one stolen scooty and three stolen motorcycles were recovered.
PROFILE OF ACCUSED:
1. Dildar Singh @ Meena (R/o Tilak Vihar, Delhi, aged 28 years)
He studied up to Class 10. After unsuccessfully trying to secure private employment, he started working as an auto-rickshaw driver in the Tilak Nagar area. During this period, he came into contact with anti-social elements and developed a habit of consuming intoxicating substances. To meet his expenses, he started stealing two-wheelers and selling them to Vishnu. He is previously involved in one robbery case and one quarrel case registered at PS Rajouri Garden.
2. Vishnu (R/o Kishangarh, Delhi, aged 26 years)
He studied up to Class 10 and has been running a scrap (kabadi) business in the Kishangarh area for the last five to six years. He used to purchase stolen two-wheelers from thieves, dismantle them, and sell the spare parts to various buyers.
RECOVERY:
1. Five stolen motorcycles.
2. Three stolen scooties.
