BRIEF: -
In a significant action against illegal arms, the staff of Police Station Ghazipur apprehended a person carrying an illegal country-made pistol (Desi Katta) and 01 live cartridge during routine area patrolling and preventive policing.

INCIDENT & INVESTIGATION: -
The team of PS Ghazipur, East District, conducted focused checking and patrolling to prevent street crime and apprehend persons involved in criminal activities. A dedicated team comprising HC Upender Bhati, HC Ajeet Kumar, Ct. Manish, Ct Dhirender was deployed for patrolling in area under the leadership of SHO/PS Ghazipur and overall supervision of ACP/Madhu Vihar for effective checking and identification of suspicious persons.
On 25.08.2026, during evening patrolling in the area of Paper Market near DDA Park, Ghazipur, police staff noticed a suspicious person who, upon seeing the police party, attempted to change direction and flee upon seeing the police party. Suspecting his conduct, the alert police team immediately intercepted him and conducted his search. During the search, one country-made pistol (Desi Katta) and 01 live cartridge was recovered from his possession. The accused was identified as Ajaj Ahmad R/o Khichripur Village delhi. The recovered firearm was safely secured, and seized as per legal procedure. A case vide FIR No. 447/2026 U/S 25 Arms Act was registered at PS Ghazipur, and the accused was arrested. Further investigation is in progress to ascertain the source of the weapon and any possible criminal involvement. The successful recovery highlights the vigilance and dedication of the police staff engaged in regular patrolling duties. Such proactive policing efforts continue to play a vital role in maintaining law and order and preventing crime in the area.
