During interrogation, the accused disclosed his alleged involvement in the theft of a Mahindra Thar and Toyota Fortuner; verification and recovery efforts are underway.
BRIEF:
In a significant success against motor vehicle theft and street crime, the staff of AATS/East District apprehended an active autolifter and recovered a stolen Maruti Suzuki Brezza being used with a fake registration number. Acting on specific intelligence and through sustained physical surveillance, extensive CCTV analysis and technical monitoring, the AATS team traced the movement of the suspected vehicle and intercepted it in the area of Mayur Vihar Phase-I. Verification revealed that the recovered Brezza was, in fact, a stolen vehicle and was involved in a case registered at PS Indirapuram, Ghaziabad. The accused was found using a fake registration number to conceal the identity of the stolen vehicle.
TEAM, & INVESTIGATION:
With a view to curbing motor vehicle theft, snatching and street crime in East District, the staff of AATS/East District intensified preventive checking, patrolling, physical surveillance and local intelligence gathering. The team worked under the close supervision of Sh. Pawan Kumar, ACP/Operations, and under the leadership of Insp. Pramod Kumar, I/C AATS/East District. The dedicated team comprised SI Vikram Singh, SI Subhanshu, ASI Satyavir, ASI Munender, ASI Ajay, ASI Neeraj, ASI Praveen, HC Manoj, HC Rahish, HC Vikrant, Ct. Rajeev and WCT Tammana.
During the investigation, the team conducted extensive CCTV analysis and examined approximately 150–200 CCTV cameras. The backward and forward movement of a suspicious Maruti Suzuki Brezza was traced from the area of Joshi Colony, Madhu Vihar. Through systematic analysis of CCTV footage and technical surveillance, the identity of the suspect was established and the movement of the vehicle was continuously monitored. On 30.08.2026, at about 11:30 PM, the suspected vehicle was intercepted at Noida Link Service Road, behind Crown Plaza Hotel, Mayur Vihar Phase-I. One person was apprehended and identified as Avinash Chaudhary, who matched the person seen in the CCTV footage. On verification, the vehicle was found to be a stolen Maruti Suzuki Brezza bearing original registration number DL-04-CAY-**, involved in FIR No. 27/2026, PS Indirapuram, Ghaziabad. The vehicle was being used with a fake registration number. The stolen vehicle and other recovered articles were seized after due legal compliance. Proceedings under Section 35(1)(e) BNSS were initiated against the accused and the concerned Investigating Officers were informed for necessary legal action. The accused was produced before the Ld. Court on 31.08.2026 for further investigation.
INTERROGATION: -
During interrogation, accused Avinash Chaudhary disclosed his alleged involvement in the theft of a Mahindra Thar and Toyota Fortuner, which he stated had been concealed in the area of PS Sector-58, Noida. The disclosure is being verified and further efforts are underway to ascertain the facts and effect recovery of the vehicles.
