TWO ACCUSED ARRESTED WITHIN 48 HOURS IN ₹30,000 POCKET THEFT CASE; ₹19,500 STOLEN CASH RECOVERED BY PS ANAND PARBAT

• TWO ACCUSED ARRESTED WITHIN TWO DAYS OF THE INCIDENT IN A ₹30,000 POCKET THEFT CASE.

• ₹19,500 OF THE STOLEN AMOUNT RECOVERED FROM THE ACCUSED.

• ACCUSED MAYANK @ MANU AND VINAY SONKAR CAUGHT THROUGH TECHNICAL INVESTIGATION, CCTV ANALYSIS AND LOCAL INTELLIGENCE.

• BOTH ACCUSED HAVE PREVIOUS CRIMINAL INVOLVEMENTS IN THEFT/ROBBERY CASES.


BRIEF OF THE INCIDENT

On 28.08.2026, a PCR call regarding theft of ₹30,000 from the pocket of the caller was received at PS Anand Parbat.

Upon receipt of the call, ASI Rajender along with staff reached Ghati Road, opposite New Arya Public School, where the complainant, aged 36 years, was found.

During enquiry, the complainant stated that a boy deliberately collided with him and engaged him in unnecessary conversation. Meanwhile, the accused took ₹30,000 kept in the back left pocket of his jeans and handed over the money to his accomplice. On noticing the theft, the complainant tried to catch hold of the accused persons, but both of them managed to escape and fled from the spot in opposite directions.

Accordingly, FIR No. 490/2026 dated 28.08.2026, U/s 303(2)/3(5) BNS, PS Anand Parbat, was registered and investigation was taken up.

TEAM AND OPERATION

A dedicated team comprising ASI Rajender, HC Sanjay and HC Jitender was constituted under the supervision of INSP/ SHO Anand Parbat and all over the supervision of ACP Patel Nagar for identification and apprehension of the accused persons.

The team conducted sustained technical investigation, CCTV footage analysis and local intelligence gathering. Through coordinated efforts, the two accused were identified and arrested within two days of the incident.

ACCUSED ARRESTED

1. Mayank @ Manu
R/o Bapa Nagar, Karol Bagh
Age: 23 years.

2. Vinay Sonkar
R/o Bapa Nagar Karol bagh
Age: 25 years.


INTERROGATION

During sustained interrogation, both accused admitted their involvement in the present case.

Investigation further revealed their involvement in the commission of the present theft in the manner disclosed during investigation.


RECOVERY

A total of ₹19,500 out of the stolen amount of ₹30,000 was recovered:

• ₹15,000 recovered from accused Vinay Sonkar.
• ₹4,500 recovered from accused Mayank @ Manu.
